 Fire has razed some buildings in two compounds which accommodate at least 40 households in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State. The inferno around Boms Street in Elekahia Community which started at about 11 am, is said to have razed the two compounds, one containing block houses and the other consisting of wooden makeshift buildings, in less than one hour.The fire is said to have started from one of the rooms in the block houses that were occupied by a woman and it’s strongly believed that the blaze was caused by the gas cooker she was using before the incident or incense which she usually lights up due to her religion.   Dr Felix Simango is accused of mistakenly cutting the intestines of late Kudzai Gweme who was giving birth through a C-section at the hospital he works at.  34-year-old Kudzai was buried on Unity Day in Domboshava. Local publications reported that second operation carried out after her tummy swelled,n  showed that Dr Simango had mistakenly cut part of her intestines. One of the children of the deceased, David Olagunju, broke the sad news in the early hours of Thursday, December 15. He died at the age of 79. According to the manager of the Ebenezer Obey Music Group, Mr Tunji Odunmbaku, “Elder Peju Kester was the longest serving manager of our chairman, Evang. (Prof.) Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi (MFR), who described the deceased as a very dedicated, loyal and dependable aide till his last days. “He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Titilola Margaret Olagunju, children and grandchildren among whom are: Mrs. Toyin Ogunleye, Mrs Oluwakemi Ibironke, Mr. Omolola Olagunju and Mrs. Oyinkansola Dirisu. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the sealing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar's campaign office in the state.  The Rivers State Atiku/Okowa campaign office, located at the GRA axis in Port Harcourt, was sealed on Friday, December 23, 2022, based on Executive Orders 21 and 22.
